Mistissini residents got a surprise when a tornado touched down in town two weeks ago, causing havoc in the community.
The strong winds sent a large wooden garbage dumpster flying into the air, chasing two kids down a street. The out-of-control twister ripped trees out of the ground and sent a shed and 45-gallon drum flying into the air.
Some vehicles and houses were damaged, including one home that had its roof shingles ripped off.
The wind also picked up a 200-pound goose blind and tossed it into the bay.
The tornado struck all of a sudden and the sky turned black. Residents report it’s not the first time a tornado has hit the area.
