Mistissini is looking at a new chief this year. Kenny Loon, in a close race, won the June 8 election with 268 votes, just 29 more than incumbent 2nd place contender, former Chief William Mianscum (239 votes). Henry Mianscum received 230 votes, Sam Etapp got 185 and Peter Coon came away with 69.

In all, 1,016 people voted out of a possible total of 1,675, a 61 -per-cent voter turnout.

At press time Kenny Loon was unable to return phone calls to The Nation and the countingof the ballots for councilors was not finished.
