A 17 year-old Waswanipi youth has waived his right to a preliminary inquiry and will prepare to stand trial for murder in a few months.

He is currently being held in a Val d’Or youth detention centre after he was charged with first-degree murder.

His file will be called July 6, during which the crown prosecutor and his

defense lawyer will set a date for the trial, most likely in the fall.

The youth was charged with the murder of 29-year-old Junior Morin on New Year’s Day in Val d’Or.
