The Cree Indian Centre of Chibougamau hosted its 7th Annual Friendship Golf tournament on August 23, 2002. 135 participants registered all from the Montreal to Chibougamau area. Mr. Donald Bubar, Mayor of Chibougamau and Mr. John Longchap, Chief of Mistissini were the Co-Presidents of the tournament. On the day of the tournament, we had sun and cool winds. The Centre had budgeted 80 participants, which eventually went up to 135 participants. A cocktail was served before the evening banquet (Hey Anthony, if you ever need the recipe, call Suzanne at the Centre). The evening Banquet was well organized by Banquet Tremblay, the meal included a duo of moose meat and chicken brochette accompanied later with a dessert of the season, blueberry cake.

The entertainment guests were: Glenn Poison and Bjorn Olsen, Mikai Flageole and Llyodd Cheechoo. Ms Mikai Flageole amazed the crowd, and she was given a standing ovation.
