Former Oujé-Bougoumou band councilor Lance Cooper has pled guilty to sexually assaulting a minor May 8 in OJ.

The incident happened at the youths’ house January 30. The 15-year-old alleged victim cannot be identified due to his age.

Cooper, 24, who was an Oujé-Bougoumou band councilor at the time, was also charged with breaking and entering to commit sexual assault.

Cooper resigned as band councilor in February.

His conditions state that he has to stay away from the victim, must respect a curfew and cannot be with children under the age of 18 without an adult present, according to Crown Prosecutor Thierry Potvin.

A pre-sentencing report is due June 12 for the judge to decide what kind of sentence he should get.
