Val-d’Or, June 1st, 2006_ This Thursday, Premier of Quebec Jean Charest announced the nomination of Mrs. Edith Cloutier, Executive-Director of the Val-d’Or Native Friendship Centre and President of the Regroupment des Centres d’amitié autochtones du Quebec, as Knight of the Ordre national du Québec. She becomes the second person in Abitibi-Témiscamingue to receive this prestigious honour.

The Val-d’Or Native Friendship Centre personnel and Board Members are extremely proud of the distinction awarded to a woman who, for more than seventeen years now, has been totally dedicated to the well-being of First Nations in Val-d’Or, Quebec and Canada. With her contagious enthusiasm, she motivates her team and successfully conducts many important projects that make the Val-d’Or Native Friendship Centre a proactive organisation, always at the forefront of the needs of the clientele it serves, and a leader in the enhancement of relations between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal peoples. The values promoted by the Friendship Centre describe her well: commitment, respect, integrity, generosity and mutual aid.

Mrs. Cloutier will receive the insignia of the Knight of the Ordre national du Québec from Premier Jean Charest during an official ceremony next June 20, in Quebec City.
