The CBC owns transmitters in two Cree communities, not six as reported in an article in the October 22 issue of The Nation. We’d also like to make a clarification.

Those two communities, Waskaganish and Waswanipi, are planning to buy their own transmitters, with some assistance from the James Bay Cree Communications Society.

The JBCCS signal will be sent on the Cree-owned transmitters, not on those of the CBC. Sorry for any confusion the article may have caused.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to pass on a request from the JBCCS. They are asking the readers to send in their views to The Nation about programming, the schedule and any other issues related to the new Cree radio network.
