Ernest Beck has been elected to a fourth term as chief of the Moose Cree First Nation with 73 percent of the vote.
Thelma Cheechoo-Moore, his opponent, got 27 percent in the August 18 election.
In all, 518 voters cast a ballot out of 1,104 eligible, for a turnout of 47 percent.
Charlie Cheechoo won for deputy chief with 52 percent of votes, and the youth councillor will be Leonard Rickard, who got 307 votes, or 59 percent.
The new council is: Roger Chum, Norm Hardisty Jr., Earl Cheechoo, William Carey, Eva Lazarus, Jean Wesley, Barb Chum, Kathy Tomatuk, Peter W. Wesley, Doug Rickard, Barb Hardisty and Joan Linklater.
Elections were also held the same day in New Post, but the results weren’t ready before press time.
