Kenneth Gilpin has been re-elected by Eastmain voters as Chief with 56 per cent of the vote.

The election for Chief and Council was held Sept. 4. Of 303 registered voters, 219 residents cast a ballot, a turnout of 72 per cent.

In the race for Chief, Gilpin picked up 122 votes, Fred Tomatuk got 50 (23 per cent) and Rusty Cheezo was last with 45 (21 per cent).

Rusty did better in the race for Deputy Chief, getting 142 votes compared to Daniel Moses with 76.

The new Council is made up of Daniel Moses (136 votes), Lloyd Mayappo (122 votes) and Luke Tomatuk (106 votes).
